Avoiding unrestricted free agency next season, the Ottawa Senators signed forward Colin Greening to a new 3-year contract extension on Monday.
Greening's deal is worth $7.95 million, which works out to be a $2.65 million cap hit for each year of the deal, which isn't too bad for a depth scoring forward.
Last season, Greening played 47 games, scoring 8 goals and adding 11 assists. Greening ranked 243rd in pool scoring, 170th among all forwards. I currently have him as a late depth forward for my draft, projecting him at 35 points this year. With all the changes happening in Ottawa, I think there will be a period of adjustment, which may be tougher for some depth players, more than the skilled players.
