The Carolina Hurricanes are expecting to be without forward Jeff Skinner for their last two preseason games, as he rests a lower-body injury before the regular season gets started.
The report is that the injury is not very serious and that Skinner should be good for opening night and that is where it's being left at.
Skinner was Clayton's 8th round draft pick last Saturday, 175th overall, and his 7th forward taken. I currently have Skinner projected at 60 points this season, so he is projected to be quite the bargain.
Much like Skinner above, it looks like the Nashville Predators are going to be cautious with one of their star forwards, as Patric Hornqvist is now being listed as out day-to-day with a lower-body injury. Apparently, Hornqvist suffered the injury in one of the preseason games this week, but there is no indication that the injury is serious and I would think he will be ready for opening night.
With the Predators already without Viktor Stalberg, there is going to be some anxious moments leading up to the start of the regular season, but I have a feeling the Predators should pull through this with some of their depth.
Hornqvist was Stuart's 13th round draft pick, 292nd overall. Stuart does have a strong group of forwards and Hornqvist was selected as his last scoring winger, so there isn't quite as much expectation there. I do have him projected for a 35-point season in 2014.
