More Player Notes in the Draft & Playoffs (Apr 10)

The Edmonton Oilers have reportedly activated goaltender Viktor Fasth off of the Injured Reserve, just in time for the last game of the regular season against the Canucks.  Fasth has been on the list since the middle of February with a lower-body injury and his reward for being activated, could be a start against Vancouver.

This would give Stacey C. a bonus start at the end of the season, which could help him get out of 15th place, where his team was when Fasth went down with the injury.  Stacey is only 2 points out of 12th place, so that would be a good finish to the year, if he could get a win from Fasth.

The Blue Jackets will welcome defenseman Fedor Tyutin back to the lineup on Friday night, as the Penguins host the Jackets in the season-end eve.  Tyutin has been out the last few days with an undisclosed injury, but with the Jackets out of the playoff picture, it is only for the sake of playing, that puts him back in the lineup.

This is a boost for Benson's team, as his side has moved up to 4th place in the standings and is still 10 points out of 3rd.  By no means should Benson be expecting 10 points from the rearguard this weekend, but anything will help.

There are only two games in the NHL on Friday night, as everyone plays on Saturday to finish off the regular season and there is one key match-up, both for the playoff scenarios and for the 3rd place race in the pool standings.

Clayton, now sitting in 5th place, 10 points behind Wes for 3rd, will have Marc-Andre Fleury in net, when the Penguins take on the Islanders.  Pittsburgh needs a win to clinch their playoff berth tonight, so it will be a big game.  Jaroslav Halak is expected to be on the other side, which will give Tony another start before the end of the year.

In the other game, Buffalo visits Columbus, where Sergei Bobrovsky will play host in the Blue Jackets crease, while it is expected that we'll see Anders Lindback in the Sabres net.  Bobrovsky belongs to 14th place Wilton, who currently leads the way for the Mover & Shaker in the last week, leading with 23 points.
