Top Prospect Signings (Aug 4)
The Philadelphia Flyers wasted little time with a couple of their 2017 draft picks, signing them to their entry-level deals on Thursday. The Flyers put pen to paper with the 27th overall pick, forward Morgan Frost (pictured), and the 35th overall selection, forward Issac Ratcliffe.
Frost, like other 1st round picks, will earn the rookie max in salary and will carry a cap hit of $925,000, if he can somehow make the leap into the Flyers roster right away. Frost is described as a good all around player, who can be counted on to make the right plays at the right time, but doesn't necessarily stand out in one way or another.
Ratcliffe is already a towering body, even as an 18-year old. The 6'6" forward is blessed with good size and some reasonable hands, but still needs to physically mature before making the leap. Nevertheless, having a big body in the system is never a bad thing and it kind of reminds me of what the Broad Street Bullies were all about.
