On Saturday afternoon, the Flames made some cuts to bring their roster down to 40 players and in this early round of cuts, defenseman Oliver Kylington was sent down to the AHL, unable to grab a 6-7 spot on the already impressive Flames blueline. There are still a total of 10 defensemen on their training camp roster, all battling for those last two spots and the current favourites to make those spots are Rasmus Andersson and Matt Bartkowski. Neither of which really will fit the bill for pool worthiness, unless the injury bug bites Calgary hard.
The early questions about the Winnipeg Jets having three goalies to start the season may have ended already, as Michael Hutchinson is no longer on the Jets training camp roster after cuts on Sunday. Hutchinson wasn't exactly the favourite to be the number two out of camp, but he certainly could have made an impression, if Connor Hellebuyck faltered again to start this season. Look for Steve Mason and Hellebuyck to be your top two, while Eric Comrie stays in camp, likely to see a bit more preseason action before heading down.
