Recent Contract Extensions (Sep 29)
The Ottawa Senators are not shying away from Craig Anderson, despite him going into the 2018 season at 36 years old, as they have extended him for another two years on Friday, making sure he has a contract through the 2020 season. It will be a 35+ contract, where he will be counting against the cap, pretty well regardless of his playing situation, unless he ends up being injured. The deal will carry a $4.75 million cap hit per season, an increase over his current $4.2 million cap hit and he will also have a no-trade clause as well. This is some real faith in their keeper.
Last season, Anderson was good for 25 wins and 5 shutouts in only 40 games played, taking time away from the team to lend support to his family in some well-documented trying times. He goes into this season as the clear number one in Ottawa and he'll likely be an early pick-up in the goalie rush, with the Senators looking fairly prominent on paper and in preseason action.
