One more restricted free agent signing dropped on Thursday, just ahead of most training camps being open and that was in Minnesota, where Marcus Foligno and the Wild came to terms on a 4-year, $11.5 million deal.
Last season, Foligno was ranked 243rd among all forwards in scoring, not too far from the top 200, with 13 goals and 23 points in 80 games in Minnesota. The 26-year old has worked his way into becoming a solid role player in the NHL and I figure he should remain in the 25-point range or so and should play every night again this year.
At best in the pool, however, he's probably going to be a mid-season injury swap, since he doesn't project high enough to be in the initial draft.
