Khudobin Lands in Dallas
It appears that the Dallas Stars have locked up their new goaltending tandem for the 2019 season, signing Anton Khudobin to a 2-year, $5 million deal on Sunday.
The Stars have really needed to shore up that back end of their team, as their blueline and crease had been improving over the last year or so, but was still pretty spotty, especially when Ben Bishop went down with an injury near the end of the season. Khudobin proved that he could carry the load in Boston, when called upon, so this could be a really good add for the Stars, who have already added Roman Polak to their blueline as well this morning.
Last season with the Bruins, Khudobin made 31 appearances, winning 16 games and posting 36 points for the hockey pool, which was good enough for 34th among all goalies, among the top tier of the backup ranks.
The Stars have already been busy in this off-season, which means their commitment to making the playoffs again has a much better chance of being rewarded, on paper at least. With Valeri Nichushkin coming back, things are looking up offensively, as well as their adds on the back end.
