Morning Fringe Signings (Jul 4)

The Carolina Hurricanes added to their fairly impressive blueline by signing Calvin de Haan to a 4-year, $18.2 million deal on Tuesday evening.  The 27-year old blueliner had a tough 2018 season, suffering an upper-body injury in December while playing for the Islanders and missed the last 49 games of the season.  In 33 games played, de Haan had 1 goal and 12 points, good enough for 158th among all defensemen.  If he can string a healthy year together with his new club, he'll certainly be a good pickup in the late rounds of the pool draft.

On Tuesday afternoon, the St. Louis Blues agreed to terms with forward Robby Fabbri, giving him a new 1-year deal, worth $925,000. Fabbri did not play in the 2018 season after suffering a major knee injury in the preseason, ending his year before it got started. Fabbri just got the green light from the team doctors to resume his playing career, so we can pencil him in as a potential sleeper pick for next season's draft.
