Setoguchi Shelved

A recurring leg injury is keeping Devin Setoguchi out of the Sharks line-up again this week. Setoguchi missed last night's game against the Predators and could very well be out of the line-up again for a few games. The first time around with this injury, Setoguchi had missed seven games while being listed as day-to-day and he is listed as day-to-day again, which doesn't give us anymore of an indication of the severity of the injury.

Setoguchi has played in 15 games this season, scoring eight goals and adding two assists, so when he is in the line-up, he is quite capable of putting the puck in the net, but that obviously doesn't help when he's not playing at all.

Surprisingly, the Sharks really didn't miss Setoguchi during the first stretch that he was out, as the team were 6-0-1 in his absence. Last night was a different story, losing to the Predators, 4-3, which makes the team 6-1-1 without Setoguchi this season.

ImplicationsCurrently, Setoguchi isn't Benson's biggest concern in the Draft pool during this Waiver Draft, but he could be down the road, especially if the injuries continue to bother him. Setoguchi's 10 points are the worst among his active forwards, but Benson doesn't have a defenseman over 10 points and has two goalies from the same team. So, something else is liable to change.

On the Sheet, Setoguchi is the most popular player in Box 4, being taken 22 times this year. That does even out the competition a bit, but not with the most points in the box. That distinction belongs to Ryan Kesler of the Canucks, who has 19 points. It may be a good idea to make that switch, if you're falling behind.
