Shoulder Injury for Jones

The tough season for the Avalanche didn't really take a break, as they have learned that David Jones had suffered a shoulder injury in the team's last game before the All-Star break, last Wednesday against the Coyotes. The preliminary findings do not sound positive at all, as the depth forward has now been listed as out indefinitely and will likely miss a substantial amount of time. Until a bit more is disclosed, I don't think there is too much more we can go on here.

In the 2011 season, Jones has quietly had a decent season with the Avalanche, scoring 16 goals and adding 12 assists in 47 games with the club, scoring at over half a point-per-game, ranking 144th in pool scoring this year.  In the 2010 season, Jones was off to a fantastic start, scoring at a slightly better pace than he is this season, but a knee injury ended his season early, ending what could have been an excellent year.  Nevertheless, Jones has been proving to be a valuable asset over the past couple of seasons in Colorado, one to keep an eye on.

ImplicationsJones did impress enough this year to make the jump into the draft, getting picked 13th overall in the first waiver draft by Neil B., which worked out just fine for Neil, registering 12 points in 24 games during his stay with in the draft.  If the injury is as bad as everyone fears it to be, I would imagine that Neil will likely have to drop Jones in the second waiver draft, making room for a bit more talent.
