The End of the Regular Season Newsletter

Well, it's all over! Stuart managed to hold off Clayton in the Draft to win the $600 first prize, while Chris beat out Dale B. for third to collect his money back ($50). What a great finish to the season. The Draft definitely saw some ups and downs throughout the year and it wasn't until midway through the season before the real separation really happened, which is later that usual. I'm really hoping that the seventeen participants had a good season and even more so hoping that they are willing to come back for another season. The goal would be to have thirty teams in the Draft so it gets really deep and the prizes get all the much better.

While over on the Sheet, Chris collected a big $500 win after running away with the pool since Week Eleven, after he was passed once after Week Three. He did manage to use all five of his trades, which is very helpful in this pool. Clayton collected another $175 for second in the Sheet as well, while Dale C. collected $100 for third place, Paul W. finished fourth for $75 and Mike C. beat Don D. for fifth on the goals scored tie-breaker for $50.

The poll question in the week was about seeing the Playoff Pool sheet and it was a pretty good indication that not many people were reading the blog over the last week, probably since they were out of the running for the money, I would gather. Anyways, the Playoff Pool is now available here and you can submit your team at any time online before 5pm MT on April 9th. The pool is being built up as we speak and I still have to enter eleven new teams this afternoon, which will bring our total to 14 teams as of this newsletter. The teams and match-ups have been decided, so there's no reason you can't figure out a simple little playoff pool, can you?

The new poll asks if you'll be back next season, so give the Sherpa some hope for next year!

Well, there is very little question who the Most Valuable Player in the pools were this season. Two players and two goaltenders eclipsed the 100-point mark in the season, but only one stood above the rest. A massive 112-point season was six better than his closest opponents.

Alexander Ovechkin (Clayton, Box 13) had a league-record (for Left Wingers in a season), 65 goals this season and was easily the most electrifying player in the NHL all season long. He helped lift the Capitals to the playoffs for the first time since 2003 and gives a lot of hope to a Washington team as they have the third seed in the Eastern Conference and taking on the Philadelphia Flyers in the first round.

Here is a collection of Player of the Week honourees this season. It's a small slideshow of the players who claimed the honour in the season, including Week Twenty-Eight's winner... stay tuned to see who it is...

Well, that should conclude the regular season. Hopefully, you all had fun this season and continue on into the playoffs. It should be a doozy of a playoff season, so stay tuned here at the Blog site for news and updates throughout the Spring.
