The Flames have a chance to meet either Minnesota or San Jose in the first round of the playoffs, but it will be Sunday's games that will decide that for them. Before Sunday's action, they are slated to play Minnesota, but if Colorado can beat Minnesota on Sunday, then the Flames will take on San Jose instead.
Jarome Iginla (Aaron) managed to score his 50th goal of the season on Saturday night, which will lead the Calgary offense this Spring. Questions still remain about the consistency of the offense for Calgary as the playoffs present itself, but a good physical presence should be what the Flames are looking for when they start their quest.
Let's have a quick look at their line-up as they have finished their season. Remember, the bold players are on the Playoff Pool Sheet.
Kristian Huselius | Daymond Langkow | Jarome Iginla |
Alex Tanguay | Matthew Lombardi | Owen Nolan |
Marcus Nilson | Craig Conroy | David Moss |
Eric Nystrom | Wayne Primeau | Eric Godard |
Stephane Yelle | Mark Smith |
Dion Phaneuf | Adrian Aucoin |
Robyn Regehr | Anders Eriksson |
Jim Vandermeer | Cory Sarich |
Rhett Warrener | David Hale |
Miikka Kiprusoff |
Curtis Joseph |
I'm predicting a lot of Calgary selections in the Playoff Pool, as we're in Calgary. They will be in tough against San Jose, if that's who they face in the first round, but a match-up against Minnesota will be more to their liking.
