He wasn't near some of his better numbers, but he did only spend a part of the season as a player finding his way again. Sergei Samsonov was signed to a 3-year deal by the Carolina Hurricanes on Wednesday that is worth $7.6 million.
Samsonov had been picked up by the Hurricanes on the waiver wire from the Chicago Blackhawks, where he was nothing but a blip on the radar screen of the roster and was even a healthy scratch from game to game. Once picked up by the Hurricanes, he found a little bit of a niche and fit in quite well, for the most part.
He finished the season with 36 points in 61 games between Chicago and Carolina and could very well see another increase in production next season, if the bulk of the team stays the same around him.
