Some good news for Martin Brodeur owners today... he's finally scheduled to make his triumphant return from a shoulder injury tonight against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Devils goalie has been out since the 19th of October, when he left the game versus the Kings and wasn't able to return. It wasn't exactly 10 days, like the team expected, but it was close.
Brodeur has only logged 80 minutes worth of action this season, failing to pick up a win yet and it will be a tough test against the Leafs tonight.
This is especially good news for Derek W. in the draft, as his team is the only one in the pool that hasn't registered a win from his goaltending tandem yet. With Brodeur on the shelf and Jonathan Bernier failing to win in his two appearances, Derek can finally breathe some sort of relief, especially with three potential starts for his number one guy.
When Brodeur was hurt a couple weeks ago, Derek was in 13th spot in the pool, but since he has dropped down to 19th spot and a quick shutout would work him back into 18th spot. On the flip side, Dale C., who has Johan Hedberg, Brodeur's stand-in, he had jumped up from 4th to 3rd in the same time frame. It's not much of a jump, but I think we can think of it more as solidifying his position.
