With significant injuries across the board for the Maple Leafs, call-ups from the AHL Marlies were inevitable. One player receiving the call was Joe Colborne, who has done well in the minors since being sent down at the beginning of the season. Colborne has 19 points in 13 games in the AHL, since his demotion, and he will finally get his chance to shine with the big boys, with Clarke MacArthur, Mikhail Grabovski and Matthew Lombardi out of the line-up. Colborne will reportedly start the game with David Steckel and Joey Crabb, which isn't quite the top end of the scale, but it's a start.
The Winnipeg Jets have activated forward Eric Fehr from the injured reserve, late on Friday night, and he is expected to make his season debut against the Flyers on Saturday afternoon. Fehr had off-season shoulder surgery and his return was hampered by some slow healing this year. He was initially pencilled in to be ready for opening night, but setbacks have caused him to miss a little bit more than six weeks into the year. He'll be a welcome addition to the team, but whether or not he'll be pool worthy at this point remains to be seen.
