2-Game Suspension for Landeskog

On Friday, the NHL Department of Player Safety decided to suspend Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog for a couple of games for an illegal check to the head of Boston forward, Brad Marchand.  As the video below illustrates, the hit was a pretty ugly one, no matter how much of a pest Marchand is.

The 22-year old Swede is now set to miss Saturday night's game in Montreal and Tuesday night's game in Toronto, because of the suspension and he will then be eligible to come back for Thursday night's game in Pittsburgh.

This season, Landeskog was putting up some decent numbers with the Avs, scoring 5 goals and 7 assists in his first 16 games and with the ejection, through a match penalty, he also now has 26 PIM.

Wes has not had a great deal of luck this year, so the 12 points that Landeskog has picked up, has only been a slight help, as his team is in 24th overall in scoring.  On the flip side, the 26 PIM that Landeskog has picked up, has certainly helped Wes stay near the top of the goon standings, as he sits atop the unofficial PIM standings, heading into Saturday's action.  That could be one race he could definitely win, with a little extra help at the Waiver Draft.
