Leafs' Bernier to the IR

Well, we're not any closer to finding out the real extent of Jonathan Bernier's lower-body injury, but if we found out anything today, he won't be ready for any time before November 8th, as he was placed on the Injured Reserve, retroactive to November 1st.

Bernier has been on the injury list on the website for a few days now, listed as day-to-day with the lower-body injury and for the most part, he should still be considered day-to-day, because we just don't know how much more time he is going to spend on the shelf.  Being on the IR means he is to miss a week, at the very least, but it certainly could be more, but the Leafs needed a roster spot opened up for their depth and this was the way to do it.

Despite still being winless on the season, the Leafs were seemingly committed to keeping Bernier locked in as the number one guy, knowing full well that the defense in front of him hasn't been sterling, so the bulk of the blame isn't necessarily all on him.

The injury doesn't exactly come at a great time for Cindy, as she needs an active (and winning) goalie, so her pool team can climb up the standings, rather that mire itself down in the bottom-third.  Going into Thursday's action, Cindy's team ranks 22nd overall, 27 points out of the money, which can be overcome, under the right circumstances now.  Her team could be getting Pavel Datsyuk before too long, while Thomas Hickey is still a week or two away.

With Bernier officially hitting the IR, Cindy's projected games does take a hit until he's active again and her team is near the bottom of those games remaining in the week, with only 23 left.  The top teams in this regard, have 29 games left in the week.
