The first player from the 1st round of the 2017 draft has put pen to paper and ironically, it was the last player picked in the round. The 31st overall selection, Klim Kostin, was signed to his entry-level deal on Wednesday, which will carry an initial cap hit of $925,000 and will have the regular bonuses attached, which would be applied at the end of the season, if he plays and hits his targets.
The young Russian has a reasonable shot at making the Blues, one would think, given their depth is still rather undecided. He will have to jump over a couple of other top prospects to do so, like their 2016 1st round pick, Tage Thompson, who is also signed and ready to go for the possibility of making next season's roster. The Blues training camp certainly gets more and more interesting with these signings.
