Top Prospect Signings (Jul 17)

The top three picks are now firmly secured to contracts, as Monday morning saw the number two pick in June's entry draft, forward Nolan Patrick, sign his entry-level deal with the Philadelphia Flyers.

Patrick, for the longest time leading up to the draft, was thought to have had the 1st overall selection locked up, no matter who was selecting it, but injury problems forced him to miss the better part of the 2017 regular season with the Brandon Wheat Kings and his value slipped ever so slightly, seeing him drop to 2nd overall, much to the delight of the Flyers.

Patrick is believed to be NHL-ready and the Flyers have a number of forward spots thought to be open for discussion in training camp, so if Patrick is 100% and gets his chance to shine, there is thought to be a pretty good chance he'll be in the lineup for opening night.

If I am going into the hockey pool draft today, I am certainly giving Patrick better projections over Nico Hischier to start the season, as the talent on Philadelphia, at all skater positions, beats out that of New Jersey's, giving Patrick more players to play with for better results than the 1st overall selection today.
