Afternoon Player Notes in the Draft (Nov 7)
Good news! The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated forward Cam Atkinson off of the Injured Reserve on Tuesday, ahead of their game against the Predators at home tonight. Atkinson has missed the last four games with a lower-body injury and is expected to be in the lineup, making his much-needed return.
It's good news for Steve's team, especially since Atkinson is a plus-player in the lineup and Steve is the current leader in the plus/minus department, trying to run away with the competition. Sure, the 4 goals and 5 points in 11 games helps too, but Steve's team has still to hit the 100-point mark this season, something Atkinson could certainly help out with.
Speaking about returns, it sounds like Jaromir Jagr is ready to go from his lower-body injury, finally, as the Canucks are in Calgary tonight for a big divisional match-up. Jagr has missed the last couple of weeks with his lower-body injury and if he is indeed ready to go, the Flames can activate him from the IR at any time and send Tanner Glass down to the minors, after he cleared waivers on Tuesday morning. Jagr was back at practice on Tuesday morning, skating on a line with a couple of the kids, so that's a positive sign, if I've ever seen one.
Ryan's 23rd place team is one of five teams that only came away from Monday night with only 1 point, so the addition of Jagr should certainly help out his cause moving forward. It's starting to look a long season again for him, especially with a team that is -1 overall in the plus/minus pool.
