Gudas Suspended Big Time
On Sunday night, the NHL announced the suspension for Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Radko Gudas and it was a doozy. The rough & tumble defenseman was given a 10-game suspension, which had already started on Saturday night and will now continue on through into December. Gudas is now eligible to play next on December 12th, at home to Toronto.
Gudas was suspended for a slash to the back of the next of Winnipeg's Mathieu Perreault, which is highlighted in the video down below and since he is considered a repeat offender by the league, the length of the suspension had been increased to double-digits.
Other than penalty minutes, Gudas hasn't really been much of a scoring sensation over the last couple of years and this season has been no different. In 17 games played, the 27-year old has 2 assists and 57 minutes in penalties. There have been some stretches where Gudas has picked up some decent offensive numbers, enough to be at the bottom of the draft, but he has established himself as a full-on goon in recent years.
For Wes, it wasn't a terrible bet to get a little bit of both, in hopes that the mini-game wheel would drop on the PIM pool. It didn't and with the Waiver Draft expected to start next week, Gudas will likely be among those players that will be dropped for a little bit more offensive flair, if any is still out there.
