Morning Player Notes in the Draft (Nov 8)

A new 6-year contract in the summer won't make you immune to the healthy scratch in New Jersey, I suppose. Devils defenseman Damon Severson was a scratch for their game against the St. Louis Blues, a game where the Devils dropped a 1-0 lead to lose 3-1 and could have probably used the extra defense to hold onto that lead. Offensively, the 23-year old only has a goal and 4 points in the first 13 games of the season and more is certainly expected of him this year.

Eric's team has been doing alright to start Week Six, picking up 7 points over the first couple of nights and it has jumped up a spot to 22nd, but it still has a long way to go, before it starts making enough noise for the money.

It was a return to the press box for Islanders veteran defenseman Dennis Seidenberg, who was actually getting a small stretch of action last week, before a healthy scratch on Tuesday night against the Edmonton Oilers.  Seidenberg has now appeared in six games for the Islanders, but only 2 assists and a -2 rating are the kind of numbers that will likely keep him as a spare, as they keep him around for injury replacements or to fill in for someone else who has been playing cold.

Neil will certainly be looking to make the swap for Seidenberg, likely in the 2nd round of the Waiver Draft, as he has some bigger fish to fry among his forwards.  Week Nine can't come soon enough for his team, which sits 19th, 30 points out of the money.

There was a lot of people up in arms about Shea Theodore spending the first couple weeks in the minors, as they Golden Knights tried to figure out their defensemen situation, while continuing to string wins together, but these people didn't have much of an argument.  When the Golden Knights were able to demote Jason Garrison and Griffin Reinhart, Theodore was able to come up, where he was thought to excel right away.  Well, that hasn't happened, as he featured as a healthy scratch again on Tuesday night in Montreal.  Theodore has made three appearances thus far, registering 1 assist and is a -1 this year.

For Kristy & Don, they were certainly among those expecting bigger things from Theodore, but it hasn't quite happened... yet.  They are managing just fine, waiting for him to come around, as the duo currently sits 7th, 10 points back of the money, 11 points back of 1st.
