Goalie Announcements (Nov 20)

Other than Tuesday night, Mondays are usually pretty good posts for the goalie announcements, as the goalie survivor pool resets for another week and the teams that are still in, all have to qualify for another go at it next week.

We're down to eight teams in the goalie survivor pool now and we are going to see the busiest week on the NHL schedule to date.  52 games will be played, starting with six games on the schedule tonight, so let's see how many of our surviving teams have the chance to put their feet up early and wait for Week Nine in this mini-game.

Antti Raanta (Ryan) versus Frederik Andersen (Mike)
Mike has been enjoying the spoils of this revitalized Maple Leafs team, especially with their number one goalie in tow this season.  Frederik Andersen has been given the nod for the start against the visiting Coyotes tonight, a team that has seen its fair share of struggles of late.  The Coyotes will be going with Antti Raanta in Toronto, as he is being leaned upon as their number one at the moment, for whatever that's worth.

Mike Smith (Ryan) versus Braden Holtby (Grant)
The Washington Capitals haven't gone a week without a win yet and that's good news for Grant's team, who is banking on them big time in this mini-game.  The Capitals host the Flames tonight and it looks like everything is pointing to a start for Braden Holtby, given the schedule is working out in his favour at the moment.

Cory Schneider (Jeremy) versus Devan Dubnyk (Brenda & Seward)
The Devils travel out of the swamp and into the wild on Monday, as they head to Minnesota to take on those green guys in St. Paul.  Cory Schneider and Devan Dubnyk are your expected starters tonight, Jeremy's goalie tandem remains strong and they might need to be very strong, as they are among the three teams with the least amount of projected starts this week (6).

John Gibson (Tony) versus Martin Jones (Chris)
This should have been an all-survival match-up, by all accounts, but Chris' team crashed and burned in Week Seven, now left to play spoiler for the rest of the season, starting with Tony's goalie in Anaheim, John Gibson.  It should be Gibson versus Martin Jones tonight in the Shark Tank, which is a great divisional match-up, one that will be broadcast on Sportsnet tonight.
