Evening Preseason Notes (Sep 19)
Matthew Tkachuk was held out of the second China game between the Flames and Bruins on Wednesday morning, dealing with a minor lower-body issue. The Flames coaching staff suggested that if he needed to play, the 20-year old would have been healthy enough to play. The Flames' top preseason roster have the long flight back home to conclude their preseason schedule and that could be a good time for the winger to get some rest and get closer to a 100% for the start of the regular season. For now, he's considered day-to-day.
One of the busiest guys in the Chicago Blackhawks organization is the team doctor, who has been giving some constant updates on injuries to his team. Defenseman Jan Rutta was the next one on the list, as he is dealing with a groin problem, but is only listed as out day-to-day as well.
Chicago's next preseason game is Thursday night in Detroit and it seems unlikely that Rutta will be dressing for that game, but he'll be worth keeping an eye on. The Blackhawks blueline has taken a beating and there could be some minutes for a guy who is healthy enough to play.
The St. Louis Blues still haven't seen very much of David Perron since he returned to the club from his stint in Vegas last season. Perron has been held out of training camp and some of the early preseason action, dealing with an undisclosed injury. Perron was reportedly at practice on Wednesday, but there's not going to be much of a push to get him much game action right away, likely waiting for him to be 100%.
