Another injury slipping through the cracks, possibly worth mentioning, belongs to Maple Leafs defenseman Travis Dermott, who suffered a shoulder injury against the Senators in their Kraft Hockeyville meeting. Dermott was on the ice on Friday morning, but with a non-contact jersey on, which is good news, but he is still listed as out day-to-day for the time being. With a little less than two weeks until the start of the regular season, he'll be monitored quite closely.
Last season, the 21-year old posted 13 points in only 37 games, which would have worked out to a pool worthy number, if he played a full year. Still though, the team is still making him jump through all the same hoops to make the team, which this injury certainly hinders. He might not be a safe bet to start the season with the big club, if he can't get the on-ice reps.
