On Sunday, the NHL announced a 20-game suspension for defenseman Nate Schmidt of the Vegas Golden Knights for failing a banned substances test this off-season. This will mean that the 27-year old will miss a quarter of the regular season to the suspension and won't be available to the Golden Knights until the middle of November, the middle of Week Seven in the regular season.
It would be a good idea to avoid Schmidt at the hockey pool draft, so adjust your projections accordingly, maybe have him penciled in as a good fit for your Waiver Draft needs, if you end up with a dud defender from the draft at the end of September.
