The Flu Sidelines Liles

A bout of the flu kept John-Michael Liles out of the Avalanche line-up on Friday night against the Carolina Hurricanes. Liles hasn't been one of the better defensemen for the Avalanche lately, but with health problems on the blueline, Liles has been an important part of the team of late, so there is a lot of hope that the flu won't keep him out of the line-up for too long.

In 30 games this season, Liles has 3 goals and 13 assists, which is pretty good production, but his -5 rating leaves something to be desired with the coaching staff and a lot of their fans.

ImplicationsIn the Draft, Liles is a member of the 5th ranked defense corps in the pool on Benson's team, where his 16 points have come in handy. Benson is climbing the standings, now sitting in 6th spot and has only 10 points to go until he's in a money spot. That's pretty good standing, just before the second Waiver Draft. This small hiccup shouldn't be too much of an issue in that climb.

On the Sheet, Liles is a member of Box 10, the top box for West defenders. He wasn't picked at all in the Sheet pool, so nothing should really come of this in the standings.
