I was beginning to think it would be a day or two before the actual prognosis would come down for Taylor Hall and his lower-body injury, but the Oilers got the job done and made the announcement on Sunday afternoon. Hall is expected to miss the next 2-to-4 weeks with an MCL sprain in his knee, which means he'll miss the entirety of the Oilers road trip, which begins on Tuesday night.
The Oilers and all of their expectations this season are taking a bit of a kicking in the early part of the season, as they are second-to-last in the Western Conference, only one win up on the Coyotes and now they have lost their top hockey pool player for upwards of a month.
Remarkably, Hall is not a member of the Injury Prone List on the blog, but it looks like this injury may just seal the deal for the 22-year old forward. Hall has yet to play in a full season in his career, this being his fifth season in the NHL and it has already been shot down from possibly being an 82-game season.
Hall indeed leads all the Oilers in hockey pool scoring, with 6 goals and 4 assists in 11 games this season, 47th overall in pool scoring, 33rd among all forwards, going into Sunday's action.
Wyllie made Hall his 1st round pick, 7th overall in the draft this year and to no surprise, he has been his best player. All of Wyllie's players have picked up points, but the most consistent player is now injured, which will definitely hurt his placing.
With Sunday's action just about to kick off, Wyllie is in 14th spot, only 2 points up on 15th & 16th, and 4 points up on 17th. It will definitely be a matter of survival for Wyllie, while he waits for his best player to come back.
