One of the league's hottest scorers is now on the shelf, thanks to a hard hit while playing against the Blackhawks the other night. Tampa Bay's Tyler Johnson is now listed as out day-to-day with an upper-body injury after taking a hit from Brent Seabrook on Tuesday night. Johnson left the game in the 3rd period and didn't return. There is no immediate word, as to a timetable for his return to the line-up, but the team has said day-to-day to this point. Tampa hosts the Sharks on Thursday night, so it will be interesting to see if he dresses for the game.
Pool newcomer, Brian, is likely holding his breath, as his best scorer to this point in the season is now on the shelf. Sure, he has John Tavares, but he'll need both players healthy, as his team has only 1 win from his goalies and his defense has been underachieving as well. Brian currently sits in xxth spot, xx points out of the money.
I am truly beginning to think that the end is nigh for Dany Heatley and his hockey pool worthiness (a la, his NHL career), as the former sniper found his way back to the press box on Wednesday night for the game between the Ducks and Kings, only just after being demoted to the 4th line in recent game action. Since his make-up is not of being a grinding line winger, his usefulness has reached some new lows. In four games played, he has no points. I would be willing to predict that the Ducks will put him on waivers before too long.
If the draft had a few more contestants and the pool needed to be a bit deeper, I had Heatley in my projections to possibly be a late round forward, if needed, but it would have been a gamble, to say the least. Stacey C. took that risk and has not been rewarded for it, one of the key reasons why Stacey hasn't made too far from the basement in the standings.
