The prognosis came down for Chicago forward Patrick Sharp, as he is going to be on the shelf for 3-to-4 weeks with the leg injury he suffered against the Canadiens this week. Sharp was hit into the boards awkwardly by Habs defender Alexsey Emelin and had to leave the game in the 3rd period, not putting any pressure on his injured leg and not returning to the game.
Just for this week, the Blackhawks have two more games, Friday and Sunday, and it will be interesting to see what kind of impact this injury has to his hockey club, but it will give a shot to non-pool forward Peter Regin, who gets called up in his absence.
In the midst of Thursday night's action, with some live scoring going on, at the time of this post, Sharp was ranked 98th overall in pool scoring with 3 goals and 6 assists in 13 games with the Blackhawks, so that is a significant amount of offense that is being taken out of the line-up. It may not be the most impressive scoring rate that we have seen from Sharp in the past, but he was hopping on the scoresheet, more often than not.
This also becomes a pretty big hit to Wyllie, who has already seen more than his fair share of these hits to his hockey pool team. His team is still in the middle of the standings, which is good, since he has lost Mikael Backlund and Taylor Hall before this injury. Sharp was Wyllie's 3rd round pick, 53rd overall, which means he is out of his 1st, 3rd and 13th round picks through the end of the week.
