The Boston Bruins were without forward David Krejci again on Monday night against the Devils, as his lower-body injury was enough to hold him out of the line-up again. He continues to be listed as out day-to-day, but I am beginning to get that feeling that the Bruins may have to shut him down, in order for him to reach 100%. You can appreciate the desire to want to play, but at this point in the season, the Bruins are still putting wins together, so resting their top guns for a few weeks could help in the long run.
Don't want to tell Benson this, as he'll want his player back in the line-up sooner, rather than later. Benson was unable to pick up any points on Monday night, but the two teams ahead of him failed to do so as well. The route out of the basement remains a long one.
On the plus side for the Bruins, they were able to welcome defenseman Torey Krug back to their line-up on Monday night, as he only missed four games with his broken finger. Krug didn't pick up any points in his return to the line-up, but his presence was likely felt, with his 21 minutes of ice-time.
At the time of the injury, Ryan was sitting in 15th spot, but some speed bumps due to injury hit and Krug's return sees him now in 20th spot. Ryan picked up a couple points from players other than Krug, so at least he's on the right track to start Week Six.
Defenseman John-Michael Liles didn't miss any time to the injury that was noted in the Newsletter on Monday afternoon. Liles played on Monday night against the Flames and the Hurricanes were able to pull out a 4-1 win. There was some doubt that Liles would play, after he left Saturday's game with an upper-body injury.
There was also no points for Liles in the win against Calgary, but staying in the line-up is at least a step forward for Stacey C. in the pool. Stacey is down in 21st place, only 4 points above 22nd and 12 points up on last place. Time to start looking for a climb up the standings.
It was a good evening for players returning from injury, as Mike Cammalleri returned from his mysterious jaw injury, which kept him out of the Devils' line-up for a couple of weeks. The free agent signing for New Jersey was out of the line-up, starting at the end of October, but his return was fruitful on Monday night, picking up a pair of assists in the 4-2 loss to the Bruins.
Leo was up in 8th place when Cammalleri was fallen by injury and had since dropped down to 16th, thanks to this injury and another that happened just before. Leo still has a couple of players on the shelf and will need them back before he can start climbing again.
