It sounds like Jared Spurgeon is going to miss a few games with a shoulder injury, as the Minnesota defender was placed on the Injured Reserve on Friday. Spurgeon was hurt on Thursday night against the Sharks, which means he should be eligible to return to the line-up for next weekend's games. For now, he will miss Saturday's game, hosting the Stars and likely a couple more games after that.
In nine games this season, Spurgeon has 2 goals and 4 assists, which has him ranked 158th overall in pool scoring, 27th among all defensemen.
Spurgeon's projected games have been removed from Allan's team today. Allan sits in 7th place, 7 points out of the money. His defense has been good this season, picking up 19 points in the first four weeks, just above average.
The Philadelphia Flyers have confirmed that Vincent Lecavalier will be back in their line-up on Saturday night for their game against the Panthers in Florida. Lecavalier was injured in the middle of October and was scheduled to be out for a couple of weeks, but it almost lasted for three weeks, dealing with a lower-body injury.
In three games, the veteran centre has a goal and 2 assists.
Allan has one defenseman going on the shelf, while a forward comes off, so that cancels each other out in the projected games category. His team has 16 games to play between Saturday and Sunday, right in line with most of the teams in his points bracket.
Checking on the goalie situation across the pool and I think I'll approach this a little differently... five teams in the pool will have both of their keepers going: Allan, Benson, Brenda & Seward, Clayton and Stacey M.. 17 out of 23 teams are having at least one goalie go on Saturday night, while Brian, Wyllie, Kristy & Don, Leo, Mike and Ryan all have no goalies starting.
Notably speaking, Steve Mason returns to the Flyers crease to face the Panthers, after getting a couple games off for some cold games. Corey Crawford returns from injury for the Blackhawks tonight. Jhonas Enroth also gets the start over Michal Neuvirth for the Sabres.
