The Boston Bruins have confirmed one of two question marks already this morning, as they don't expect to have forward Brad Marchand in their line-up tonight against the Blues, as he is dealing with something unspecified. Marchand left their last game on the weekend, but the team said it wasn't quite injury related, so it's still up in the air.
The other question mark in the line-up is forward David Krejci, who did take line rushes in the morning skate on Tuesday, but still remains questionable for the game tonight. He's been on the list for a few days now, so there won't be any changes to the list, unless he returns.
Marchand is a new wrinkle for Kristy & Don, the pool's 2nd place team, who have seen decent production out of the pesky winger (11 points in 19 games). Benson is really hoping Krejci comes back though and you'll see why further down in the blog post.
Sounds like the Colorado Avalanche will be living life without their number one goalie again this season, as Semyon Varlamov will be rested with a groin injury, as the team has called up Calvin Pickard to back-up Reto Berra, starting Thursday, home to Washington. Varlamov is only listed as out day-to-day at the moment, but the coaching staff has said that they will be cautious with the injury, which likely means they won't push him too quickly.
More bad news for Benson, who appears to be in line to be missing at least one start from Varlamov and there is some potential for more time missed with this injury. With only being 5 points from moving out of the basement, this comes as a stunning blow to his team.
The status of Detroit Red Wings forward Pavel Datsyuk has been downgraded to out for Tuesday night's game against the Blue Jackets. Datsyuk's groin injury has been acting up again, as noted yesterday, and the team will keep him off the ice for at least one more game, possibly more, but it will be determined on a day-by-day basis.
Tuesday night appears to be a black hole of points for Benson, especially if Krejci doesn't play. He'll have some players active, but bodies out of the line-up will keep the poor guy down.
It's another busy Tuesday night in the NHL, which means there will be lots of goalie points to be had. 11 games, 22 starting goalies, 20 of which are pool goalies, 13 of 23 pool teams represented, six teams with both of their goalies playing.
Clayton, Dale B., Grant K., Kristy & Don, Troy and Wes will all have their goalies going tonight. None of the five teams have competing keepers, so they're all up for the full amount of potential points.
Notably, both Allan and Stacey M., neither have goalies going and their only possible starts are being handed to back-ups, as Troy Grosenick takes an extra start for San Jose and Michael Hutchinson gets the call for Winnipeg tonight.
