Morning Player Notes in the Draft (Feb 11)

Detroit defenseman Danny DeKeyser got an early finish to the game against the Senators on Wednesday night, as he blocked a shot, close to his right knee, forcing a quick exit off the ice in the 3rd period.  The aftermath is believed to only be a bruise and nothing broken, which is good news, so if he misses any time, it will be fairly limited.  He'll be on the list as out day-to-day, if he does miss any time.

Benson is trying to climb up into the top 20 and is slowly gaining on 20th and 21st in the standings.  DeKeyser was able to help out last night with a goal, so his contributions have been vital for him, so a lot of time missed will hurt his side.  He'll be keeping a close eye on this one, I'm sure.

The Edmonton Oilers are giving Anders Nilsson some work here finally, but it will be in the minors, as he was demoted to the AHL on Wednesday.  I would have to imagine that this would be more of a conditioning stint, since Cam Talbot has been getting the bulk of the work lately, but since Nilsson didn't have to pass through waivers, there doesn't have to be any designation made of the sort.  With the team losing their last three in a row and 4-6-0 in their last 10 games, they may also be giving a shot to Laurent Brossoit, to see how effective he can be at the NHL level.

If Brossoit is the likely starter for the next game or two and does well, this could mean bad things for both Cindy and Brian, who each have a goalie playing a part in this byte.  Cindy's Week Nine Waiver Draft pick-up is the one down in the minors, while Brian might begin to lose some starts, as his team falls closer to 11th, rather than climbing closer to 9th.
