Aggressor Costs Nurse Three

The Edmonton Oilers were dealt another blow to their blueline on Thursday morning, as the NHL Department of Player Safety decided that rookie defenseman Darnell Nurse should sit three games for his part in an altercation with San Jose's Roman Polak.

You can see the video explaining the decision here.

The rookie will miss games starting tonight in Minnesota and won't be eligible to return until Wednesday, when the Oilers play host to the St. Louis Blues.

In 59 games this season, Nurse has picked up 2 goals and 8 points, not to mention 51 PIM, in his freshman season with the Oilers.  It hasn't been a very productive year for him, but he has definitely shown that he has the chops for the big leagues and he'll be around for a while, at least.

For John S., this makes three out of his four defensemen on the news/injury page this week, having missed time or will miss more time.  It could be worse, I guess... he could be missing seven out of his eight forwards.
