Morning Player Notes in the Draft (Mar 6)

Before the game between the Jets and Canadiens on Saturday evening, it was announced that Winnipeg defenseman Jacob Trouba would not be taking part, as he has been dealing with an upper-body issue this week and it has kept him out of practice as well.  The injury is considered minor, he is day-to-day and at best, he's questionable for Sunday's Hometown Hockey game against the Oilers.

Allan's team is now 38 points back of the money, heading into Sunday's contest, and the teams that are now jockeying for 3rd are having good weeks and good stretches as well.  It doesn't seem very likely that his team will feature in that race, but that's okay... he's already won his money back.

Another one of those dreaded lower-body injuries reared its ugly head on Saturday night, as Brendan Gallagher of the Montreal Canadiens left the ice rather gingerly after possibly popping something in the groin area.  He left the Habs' loss to the Jets in the 1st period, not to return, and no update, as of Sunday morning.  You would think it would have to be a pretty serious injury for Gallagher not to be playing, so we'll wait and see what the official word is.

Gallagher may not be relied upon too heavily for Derek & Dan's chances at the PIM pool, but he is a pretty good little spark plug, which can ignite a situation pretty quickly.  Although he only has 22 PIM this season, you'll never know when he could go off and double it, rather easily.

It was hard to see where it happened, but Vancouver Canucks captain Henrik Sedin left Saturday night's game against the Sharks with an apparent upper-body injury in the 1st period and didn't return.  After the game, the coaching staff said that Sedin would return home to Vancouver and not continue with the team to Los Angeles, meaning that he will miss at least one more game, but a full update would likely happen early next week.

It hasn't been a good week for Clayton's team, as they struggled to keep their heads above the Basement Dweller this week and this kind of injury won't help his team next week.  Heading into a busy Sunday, his team is down in 14th, only 3 points out of 11th, so there's some wiggle room to move.

Things just aren't getting any easier for Rangers defenseman Marc Staal, as this lineup yo-yo is coming back out of the lineup on Sunday, when the Rangers face off against their local rivals, the Islanders, this afternoon. Staal is believed to be now dealing with some back spasms and it is believed to keep him out of the lineup today, as Dylan McIlrath will take his place. Adding to his family, being under the weather and now this... Staal is making good use of the blog's time in the last couple of weeks.

After Saturday night's action, Grant's team found its way back down to 27th place, only 1 point worse than Wes, who finished last week in last spot in the standings.  It's a real dogfight down there, with only 7 points separating 24th and 27th.
