Goalie Announcements (Mar 6)

Six games still to be played on Sunday, capping off a pretty busy week in the NHL, 50 games in total, but the pool hasn't really been working at it's peak point production efficiency and it's hard to ask for that, when you're highlighting the goalies in a semi-regular blog post, I guess.

Still, we have potential for a pretty good Mover & Shaker match-up tonight in Minnesota, as the Blues and Wild are the last game of the night.  Derek W. leads the weekly campaign with 31 points and there's a good possibility that his keeper, Devan Dubnyk, will get the nod for the Wild, taking on the goalie from his closest competitor, Scott, as Jake Allen is the confirmed starter for the opponents.  Scott is only 3 points back of Derek for the Mover & Shaker, so this game could mean something in the end.

Brian is only 4 points back of the weekly lead and he'll likely have Cam Talbot going for the Edmonton Oilers tonight, as they visit the Winnipeg Jets for Sportsnet's Hometown Hockey, and in the other net, it is expected that Ondrej Pavelec (Stuart) will get back-to-back starts, after playing last night as well.

Down in the Basement Dweller race, John P. has a 1-point deficit on Cindy & Troy in that race, but it doesn't appear that goaltending will be out there to help these three out, as John doesn't have any active today, Cindy has one back-up and Troy's number one goalie is currently ailing from an undisclosed injury, so he likely won't go today either.  These three are really giving it their all this week!

Since we have some later starts this afternoon, this early post doesn't have much for confirmed goalie match-ups, unfortunately.  The goalies that have been confirmed thus far are Corey Crawford (Stuart) getting the call for the Blackhawks this afternoon against the Red Wings and Antti Raanta (Dropped) will cover for Henrik Lundqvist (Derek & Dan) one more time in the Rangers' net, with the Islanders in town.
