The Boston Bruins signed a pair of fringe defensemen, one maybe closer than the other to being pool worthy, but still fringe. Colin Miller signed a 2-year, $2 million deal and the other was Joe Morrow, who signed a 1-year deal, but no numbers were leaked out in the evening.
Miller was just on the outside looking in on the pool worthy rankings, finishing 110th among blueliners, but didn't get the confidence of the coaching staff to play everyday and spent a good deal of time in the minors as well. He played 42 games and picked up 16 points, only about 2 points out of worthiness, playing half the season.
Morrow, on the other hand, only played in 33 games and picked up 7 points, slowly coming around in his second season in the NHL, making strides towards a full-time gig. Right now, the Bruins' depth at defense does work in Morrow's favour, so he could be on the way in, if all goes well.
