The American squad announced on Wednesday that Tampa Bay forward Ryan Callahan won't be able to participate in September's exhibition tournament, due to his off-season hip surgery, and he will be replaced by New Jersey forward Kyle Palmieri.
Callahan was definitely one of those leadership adds for Team USA, as he has had plenty of international experience, but the recovery from his surgery is supposed to be in the 5-month range, which wouldn't put him back into active duty until November.
Palmieri is a good add for the Americans, adding more speed and a good scoring touch, it was a wonder why he was left off the roster to begin with.
The swap has been made on the roster list, as we slowly move towards draft day.
