Draft Player News (Apr 7)

It sounds like every passing day and/or game, the Boston Bruins are losing more and more confidence in their number two pick overall from last Summer's draft, Tyler Seguin. Now, it is only the immediate confidence, as they go into the playoffs, questioning whether or not he'll be helpful to their cause or not. Seguin is a valued member of the team's future and they will exercise patience with him, but the Bruins are going to try and win it all now and maybe Seguin isn't part of those plans. Seguin was a healthy scratch against the Islanders on Wednesday ngiht.

A minor shoulder injury kept Troy Brouwer out of the Blackhawks line-up on Wednesday night, as the team took on the Blues. He is currently listed as out day-to-day, so it doesn't sound too bad. There is a good chance that with Patrick Sharp returning to the line-up on Wednesday night, they felt comfortable giving Brouwer the night off to heal up a bit.

The Red Wings have not been playing exceptionally well over the last few weeks, but they have clinched their playoff spot, so there may be little drive to push it extra hard down the stretch. That doesn't mean the coach isn't watching, as he made Jiri Hudler and Drew Miller into scratches on Wednesday night in Carolina, sending a message to the team, that they should be working hard or they'll be spending time in the press box.

I admittedly missed the boat on this injury, but it only should have been posted yesterday, so it isn't too bad. Oilers' defenseman Tom Gilbert missed his second straight game on Wednesday night with a back injury. It's hard to say whether or not Gilbert will play in the remaining games on the schedule, since the Oilers have clinched 30th place in the league, there would be little need to actually play him.

The Sharks suffered a bit of a blow to their late season jockeying, as Ryane Clowe was hurt on Monday night against the Kings, leaving the game with a lower-body injury. Wednesday night, against the Ducks, Clowe did not dress in the game, due to the injury and there has been no update as of yet as to what his timeline for a return is. He's considered day-to-day for now and I would bet they'll rest him, in order to save him for the playoffs.

I had seen last night that Jason Arnott was a scratch for the Capitals for their game against the Panthers on Wednesday night and it looks like he joined Scott Hannan and Alex Semin as healthy scratches, limiting time on the ice before the playoffs start.  Arnott has been dealing with some aching body parts, so it is understandable that the rest comes now, it just isn't clear as to whether or not he'll play in another game this season.
