The Atlanta Thrashers begun a quick 2-game road trip in Nashville on Tuesday, just before they finished their season at home for two games. Not making it on the trip is both Tobias Enstrom and Radek Dvorak, both out with injuries, both listed as out day-to-day. Now, Dvorak we had made mention on the blog earlier, but Enstrom suffered an upper-body injury over the weekend, having to leave their game against the Bruins on Saturday afternoon. The injury is believed to be in the shoulder area, but there hasn't been many more details about the injury or any word as to whether or not he'll play any of the last two games of the season, Thursday or Saturday.
I don't think I'll be too shocked to see the Thrashers shut down Enstrom, especially with such a major injury like a shoulder. The only way I think they would let him play is if he was 100% and was not going to risk further injury to the upper-body.
That being said, if he is done for the year, Enstrom finishes with 10 goals and 41 assists in 72 games with the Thrashers, where he currently ranks 105th in pool scoring with only a few days to go, ranking 5th among defensemen, with some wiggle room to fall a bit further before Sunday. Undoubtedly, a pretty good year for the young blueliner, especially with new linemate, Dustin Byfuglien.
Of course, Benson G. doesn't want Enstrom's season to end prematurely, he is hoping there is a little bit of fight left in his team, as he tumbles down in the standings, right before the end of the season. Already this week, Benson has fallen down to 7th place, having picked up only 6 points in the first two days of action. I don't think there is much hope for the money now.
