The Flyers have placed Michael Leighton on re-entry waivers on Tuesday with the intention of bringing him back into the Flyers' line-up for the rest of this week. The Flyers have struggled a bit of late and are now in a fight for top spot in the East and goaltending may be a reasonable way to solve the problem.
The real catch here is any team can put a claim on Leighton coming back up and will get him for half price for next season, as he has another year on his deal. That could very well be an attractive situation for a lot of teams, who may have some question marks in their crease, both in the playoffs and/or next season.
It looks like the coach will keep Alexander Semin out of the Capitals line-up on Tuesday night, as Washington has travelled up to Toronto to take on the Leafs. Semin is to get a maintenance day to help him get to 100% for their playoff run this year and the game means very little to Washington as it is.
This gives the Leafs a little extra hope to keep their slimmest of playoff hopes alive for another day, but they will also need some help.
