Hurricanes Announce Their Back-Up for 2011

The Hurricanes have reportedly announced that their back-up goaltender, behind Cam Ward, will be Justin Peters for the 2011 season, which doesn't start for another four months.  Peters is still a potential restricted free agent for the Summer, which also adds to the strange announcement in June.

Peters made nine appearances with the Hurricanes in the 2010 season, picking up a 6-3-0 record with a 2.83 GAA and .905 SV%.  Peters will likely get a good number of games in the 2011 season and it looks like they have a guy that can post good enough numbers when called upon, so this will definitely be worth a second look at your fantasy draft, late of course.

This also likely means the end of Manny Legace's membership as a Carolina Hurricanes player, who played admirably in the absence of Ward to injury.
