Well, with deals going on in the NHL since my first Mock Draft, revisions will have to be made in order to accommodate what has gone on, since I would like it all to be closer to what I expect to happen and/or what I think should happen. So, for my revised version, I thought I would just make changes and you can see what my original looks like here. Where I had my reasoning behind my picks, I will have the reasons why things have changed more than anything, just to keep everything clean.
Team | Pick | Player | Pos | |
1 | Taylor Hall | F | Edmonton takes Taylor Hall as their first pick, nothing changes here. Hall is the best player out of the bunch and should be the best player in the Draft, in my limited opinion. | |
------------------- | ||||
from Toronto | 2 | Tyler Seguin | F | My original reasoning had the Bruins going after Fowler, because they had two picks in the first round, but now that they have dealt it to Florida in the Nathan Horton deal, they will now go with the better player past Hall and not pick for position. Seguin will go to the Bruins. |
------------------- | ||||
3 | Brett Connolly | F | With the Panthers acquiring Dennis Wideman in the Horton deal, they might not be in such a rush to pick up a new defenseman, instead going with one of the talented forwards in the Entry Draft. Connolly has been getting some solid reviews and they might want to get in on some more scoring with this pick and possibly go with a defenseman with the 15th pick. | |
------------------- | ||||
4 | Erik Gudbranson | D | I still like Gudbranson as the Blue Jackets pick. A big, strong defenseman might be exactly what the doctor ordered there in Columbus. | |
------------------- | ||||
5 | Nino Niederreiter | F | Flash and dash still rules the roost on Long Island, still looking for the Islanders to go after Niederreiter as the 5th pick, in somewhat of a surprise move. | |
------------------- | ||||
6 | Cam Fowler | F | If new Lightning GM Steve Yzerman took anything away from the Olympics in 2010, it's the need for a top end defensive pairing. Fowler may have dropped a bit, but his offensive game may be exactly what the Lightning need to compliment Victor Hedman and his size and defensive ability. | |
------------------- | ||||
7 | Brandon Gormley | D | Still fairly confident in this pick. | |
------------------- | ||||
8 | Jack Campbell | G | Atlanta still has two picks in the first round, so I still like Campbell to come in and shock a few people early. | |
------------------- | ||||
9 | Nick Bjugstad | F | This pick makes a lot of sense to me still. | |
------------------- | ||||
10 | Derek Forbort | D | Here as well, the Rangers can really get themselves another solid defenseman. | |
------------------- | ||||
11 | Mikael Granlund | F | A skillful forward looks really good on Dallas. | |
------------------- | ||||
12 | Ryan Johansen | F | Another big centre for the Ducks. | |
------------------- | ||||
from Calgary | 13 | Alex Burmistrov | F | European talent to take a solid risk on. |
------------------- | ||||
14 | Emerson Etem | F | The Blues can get another solid skater out of the Draft in Etem. | |
------------------- | ||||
from Boston | 15 | Jonathon Merrill | F | The Panthers are not going to get Seguin, like I had prognosticated in the first draft of my mock draft, so they will go with a skillful defenseman, hoping to come out with some solid offense. Merrill might have some attitude problems, but Dale Tallon knows how to handle those young "problem children." |
------------------- | ||||
16 | Tyler Toffoli | F | No change from my Ottawa pick. | |
------------------- | ||||
17 | Austin Watson | F | Avalanche pick still looks good. | |
------------------- | ||||
18 | Mark Pysyk | D | After moving Hamhuis, another defenseman prospect sounds like it would be right up the Predators' alley, despite re-acquiring Ryan Parent. | |
------------------- | ||||
19 | Dylan McIlrath | D | This pick still looks good for the Kings. | |
------------------- | ||||
20 | Calle Jarnkrok | F | European skill is a favourite of the Penguins, this pick still looks alright. | |
------------------- | ||||
21 | Justin Faulk | D | A different name for the first round than my last draft of the first round for the Red Wings, as the Panthers snuck Merrill out from underneath them. Faulk is considered a good defensive prospect, someone to help ease the pain when Lidstrom finally walks. | |
------------------- | ||||
22 | Calvin Pickard | G | No change here. | |
------------------- | ||||
23 | Alex Petrovic | D | Or here. | |
------------------- | ||||
from New Jersey | 24 | Kirill Kabanov | F | Here too. |
------------------- | ||||
25 | Jarred Tinordi | D | Canucks need a sizeable defender. | |
------------------- | ||||
26 | Riley Sheahan | F | Quality defensive forward. | |
------------------- | ||||
27 | John McFarland | F | Small, but powerful... the Habs could really like McFarland. | |
------------------- | ||||
28 | Beau Bennett | F | The California connection looks pretty good with this pick. | |
------------------- | ||||
from Philadelphia | 29 | Tyler Pitlick | F | The stocking up of forwards still looks good for the Ducks. |
------------------- | ||||
30 | Quinton Howden | F | Best available player for the Blackhawks. |
