Another one of the young players that I highlighted in my one's to watch, this time for the New York Rangers, Derek Stepan, has signed his 3-year entry-level deal on Wednesday, according to the New York Post. Stepan was without a doubt one of the biggest standouts on the USA U-20 team that won gold at the World Juniors in Saskatoon in January and now he is taking one step closer to his professional career.
Signing a deal with the Rangers should end his university hockey career and he should get a pretty good look in Rangers camp, although there doesn't seem to be high expectations that he'll be cracking the Rangers line-up too quickly, mainly due to his smaller stature. I will personally have a close eye on the news for this youngster, because he showed some real talent at the Junior tourney during the games I managed to catch.
