I don't think anyone would mind having a guy like Mark Recchi on their team, even at age 42. Recchi showed that he still had some good legs in the playoffs for the Bruins this past Spring, so giving him a new 1-year deal worth $1 million seems like a pretty good deal to me and probably to the Bruins organization.
The 1998 4th round draft pick had a respectable year in 2010, scoring 18 goals and 25 assists in the regular season for the Bruins (playing 81 games) and was very good in the two rounds of the playoffs, scoring 10 points in 13 games. His regular season numbers were good enough to rank him 127th among all forwards, which will be good enough for a lot of attention in my hockey pool draft this coming year. I don't expect him to go too early or higher than 127th, but he'll eventually go as a good depth forward.
If the Bruins are going to make any waves in the Eastern Conference in the regular season or the playoffs, Recchi is one of those guys that they can rely on for some excellent leadership qualities.
No extensive salary cap paragraph, as the team update was only two posts ago and the $1 million cap hit isn't not substantial enough to deserve much analysis.
