The word has come down from Edmonton that they have inked another one of their star prospects to his entry-level deal on Tuesday, putting pen to paper with Magnus Paajarvi-Svensson. Paajarvi-Svensson was Edmonton's 1st round draft pick in 2009, going 10th overall that year, and has agreed to attend the Oilers Summer camp for their prospects, starting to pave his way into the NHL sooner rather than later. The 19-year old winger has dazzled many in international tournaments for Sweden, so he should be coming with some higher expectations, but he will likely jump in close to the same time as Jordan Eberle, Linus Omark and/or whoever the Oilers pick with the 1st pick overall this Summer.
No salary details have been released as of the middle of the afternoon on Tuesday, but I would imagine that the Swedish phenom will be getting somewhere close to the rookie max, being the high pick that he is and if he makes the Oilers roster, he'll be a healthy cap hit to help the team up closer to the ceiling.
In the Swedish Elite League last season, Paajarvi-Svensson had 29 points in 49 games with Timra IK and 1 assist in 5 playoff games as well.
