Dallas Re-Signs Eakin

The restricted free agents are dropping like flies now. On Monday afternoon, the Dallas Stars announced that they have re-signed forward Cody Eakin to a new 2-year deal, which carries a cap hit of $1.9 million per season, working out to be another reasonable bridge deal before unrestricted free agency.

This signing leaves only Brenden Dillon to be signed in Dallas and at the rate these guys are falling now, it might not be long before that happens.

Eakin played in 81 games for the Stars last season, scoring 16 goals and 35 points, ranking 229th overall and 159th among forwards in scoring.

Since he was unsigned at the time of the hockey pool draft, he wasn't selected, even though he very well could have been, given the amount of potential he has and how much the team around him has improved in the off-season.

The timing of this signing should give Eakin plenty of time to get prepared for opening night, which is still over a week away.
