Well, with training camps opening up on Thursday, this should be the last of the camp invite posts for the off-season. There have been quite a few more than I have been posting, but I have been picking out some of the more interesting names, as it were, since not all of the invites are terribly relevant.
Next up will be the cuts from camp and all of the injury updates, which I imagine there will be a few. I will only be looking at the players with any projected points or somewhat surprise cuts, just so you can pare down your list accordingly. That should start fairly soon, likely on the weekend.
The Blackhawks announced their training camp roster somewhat later than most, one of the last four teams to give it up. On it, we find defenseman Cam Barker, who played in the KHL last season. The Blackhawks have an open spot on their projected blueline, which may prove to be an interesting competition, as David Rundblad should have the edge for the spot, but the addition of Barker makes it interesting.
Barker was originally drafted by the Blackhawks, so it should make for a nice return for him.
The Nashville Predators added a few more names to their camp roster, not long after they announced their main camp line-up, and it included defenseman Brian Lee, who thought to have retired back in July, but appears to be ready to give it a go. Lee didn't play in the 2014 season, due to injury, and apparently wants to give it another shot. The Predators have a couple of spots open on the blueline going into camp and Lee could make for a good fight.
Lee last figured in the NHL in the 2013 season, where he played in 22 games for Tampa, failing to register a point. 2012 was his best season, where he finished 116th among all defensemen in scoring, with 16 points in 55 games with the Bolts.
